🌟 We've reimagined template creation to help you achieve perfection. Heidi guides you every step of the way, making it simple to create templates that work exactly how you need them.
❗ The new template creation process is being rolled out progressively over August - September 2025, and will appear on your account soon.
Getting Started: Three Simple Ways to Begin
Choose the path that works best for you:
1. Chat or Dictate with Heidi
Start from scratch by simply telling Heidi what you need. Type or speak naturally - for example, "Create a referral letter template for my patient" or "Make a progress note template for physiotherapy sessions."
2. Upload Example Files
Upload multiple example files and let Heidi automatically merge them into one optimised template. This is perfect when you have 3-5 great examples that you want to combine into your ideal template.
Accepted files types:
pdf, txt, word, png, jpeg
Written documents, tables, surveys with checkboxes
Reports, notes, letters
up to 5 files at once for automatic merging
Unaccepted:
images, graphs, diagrams
spreadsheets (csv, xml)
3. Start from an Existing Template
Browse templates from the Heidi community library or your personal collection. Use any existing template as a starting point and customise it to your needs.
How the Template Creator Works
The Conversational Interface
Once you've chosen your starting point, you'll see Heidi's intuitive template builder.
Here, you can start making changes through natural conversation:
Chat with Heidi on the right side of your screen:
Type conversational requests like "Make it more concise" or "Add a medication section"
Use plain English - no technical knowledge required
Get real-time responses and see changes instantly
Ask for adjustments until it's perfect
What you can ask Heidi:
"Make all brand name medications their generic counterpart"
"Add a section for follow-up recommendations"
"Make the language more formal"
"Keep it under 4 paragraphs"
"Include space for vital signs"
Structure tab: Manually edit you template
If you prefer hands-on editing, use the Structure tab on the left side:
Plain language editing: No complex syntax, mark-down or brackets required
Direct editing: Click and type your requirements in natural language, format your words as you like (bold, italics, headings)
Example of user-friendly structure:
Subjective: Include patient's main concerns and symptoms
Objective: Record vital signs and physical examination findings
Assessment: Provide clinical impression and diagnosis
Plan: Outline treatment recommendations and follow-up
Example tab: live exam of real-time updates
Using the Example tab on the left, you can see your actual note output instantly. Watch as live changes happen in real-time while you chat with Heidi or edit the structure.
No surprises - you'll know exactly what your notes will look like before using the template.
Version Control & Experimentation
Version control enables safe experimentation without breaking templates, allowing easy rollback to any previous version and building confidence as you test new changes.
Tips for Success
Be specific: Instead of "make it shorter", try "keep it under 3 paragraphs"
Use examples: "Like the previous version but add a medication review section"
Iterate gradually: Make one change at a time to see how it affects the output
Upload quality examples: Your best documentation creates the best templates
