Advanced techniques to elevate your template.

Learning Objectives
Use "If-Then" statements to create dynamic AI instructions.
Override patient quotes from the Superdetailed voice option.
Ensure Context Tab information syncs accurately across templates.
Troubleshoot common issues in templates and outputs.
1. Using Conditional Logic with If-Then Statements
Conditional logic lets you createdynamic templatesthat adapt to different clinical scenarios โso your documentationautomatically updatesto fit different clinical scenarios. โ For example...
๐Scenario:You are documenting care for a patient with burns and want to provide follow-up instructions based on the total body surface area (TBSA) affected:
Define the Conditions:Use AI instructions to outline actions for different scenarios. For example:
(If the burn is less than 10% total body surface area, print: 'Minor burn, no need for specialist follow-up.')
(If the burn is 10% or greater, print: 'Major burn, must have fortnightly specialist follow-up post-discharge.')
Test the Logic:Save the template and regenerate the output. Heidi will dynamically select the appropriate follow-up instructions based on the patientโs TBSA data.
Adjust Parameters if Needed:To change thresholds, simply modify the logic. For example:
(If the burn is less than 20%, print: 'Minor burn, no need for specialist follow-up.')
(If 20% or more, print: 'Major burn, must have fortnightly specialist follow-up.')
More Ways to Use Conditional Logic
Conditional logic isnโt just for burns! Use it forvarious clinical scenarios:
๐งฌChronic Kidney Disease (CKD):
(If creatinine is above 1.5 mg/dL, classify as Stage 1 CKD.)
(If above 2.0 mg/dL, classify as Stage 2 CKD.)
โค๏ธHypertension Management:
(If systolic BP > 140 mmHg, recommend lifestyle changes and medication.)
(If >160 mmHg, recommend immediate medication.)
2. Removing quotes in Super Detailed notes
By default, Heidiโs "super detailed" style includes direct quotes from the transcript. While this can be useful, there may be situations where you prefer notes without quotes.
โSteps to Remove Quotes:
Open your template:
Go to"View/Edit Template"and scroll to the bottom.
Add an AI instruction:
Include a clear command, such as: โ(Ignore voice instructions to use patient quotes. Do not include any quotes in the output. Remove all quotes in round brackets from the note before generating.)โ
Save and apply changes:
ClickโSave for later,โrefresh the page, and regenerate the note. โ
3. Sync changes appropriately across your note when you add information to the context
Sometimes, updates in theContext Tabdonโt sync perfectly with your notes. To make sureHeidi reflects the right information, you canguide herwithAI instructionsin your template.
๐Example AI Instruction:โ(Using information from the Context Tab, mention any medications that might be needed.)
โจHow to Apply This:
Review Your Template:
Check if the template includes clear instructions on how to use context information in the notes.
Add Specific AI Instructions:
Include commands in the template to ensure the context is applied as intended.
4. Troubleshoot common issues
1. Incorrect Output in Your Note
๐Issue:The output in your note doesnโt match your expectations.
โ Check:
Review theTranscriptto see if the information causing the issue is mentioned.
If the Transcript doesnโt reference the incorrect output, the issue may be related to yourtemplate structurerather than the Transcript itself.
๐ Solution:
Examine thetemplate structureto ensure it is accurate and aligned with your intended output.
2. Errors in the Transcript (e.g., Dosage or Measurement Mistake)
๐Issue:You notice an error in the Transcript, such as an incorrect dosage or measurement.
๐ Solution:
Update the clinical note directly to correct the error.
Add aCommand for Consistencyto ensure the correction is applied across all related documents:
โ
๐กTips:
Bespecific, clearanddirectwhen providing AI instructions. Whilst Heidi is smart, the more clear the instructions, the better the output.
Test your template and be okay with imperfections and iterations
