1. Using Conditional Logic with If-Then Statements

Conditional logic lets you createdynamic templatesthat adapt to different clinical scenarios —so your documentationautomatically updatesto fit different clinical scenarios.

📍Scenario:You are documenting care for a patient with burns and want to provide follow-up instructions based on the total body surface area (TBSA) affected:

Define the Conditions:Use AI instructions to outline actions for different scenarios. For example:

(If the burn is less than 10% total body surface area, print: 'Minor burn, no need for specialist follow-up.')
(If the burn is 10% or greater, print: 'Major burn, must have fortnightly specialist follow-up post-discharge.')

Test the Logic:Save the template and regenerate the output. Heidi will dynamically select the appropriate follow-up instructions based on the patient’s TBSA data.
Adjust Parameters if Needed:To change thresholds, simply modify the logic. For example:

(If the burn is less than 20%, print: 'Minor burn, no need for specialist follow-up.')

(If 20% or more, print: 'Major burn, must have fortnightly specialist follow-up.')

More Ways to Use Conditional Logic

Conditional logic isn’t just for burns! Use it forvarious clinical scenarios:

🧬Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD):

(If creatinine is above 1.5 mg/dL, classify as Stage 1 CKD.)
(If above 2.0 mg/dL, classify as Stage 2 CKD.)

❤️Hypertension Management:

(If systolic BP > 140 mmHg, recommend lifestyle changes and medication.)
(If >160 mmHg, recommend immediate medication.)

2. Removing quotes in Super Detailed notes

By default, Heidi’s "super detailed" style includes direct quotes from the transcript. While this can be useful, there may be situations where you prefer notes without quotes.

‍Steps to Remove Quotes:

Go to"View/Edit Template"and scroll to the bottom.

Add an AI instruction:

Include a clear command, such as:
(Ignore voice instructions to use patient quotes. Do not include any quotes in the output. Remove all quotes in round brackets from the note before generating.)‍

Save and apply changes:
Click“Save for later,”refresh the page, and regenerate the note.

3. Sync changes appropriately across your note when you add information to the context

Sometimes, updates in theContext Tabdon’t sync perfectly with your notes. To make sureHeidi reflects the right information, you canguide herwithAI instructionsin your template.

4. Troubleshoot common issues

1. Incorrect Output in Your Note

🔍Issue:The output in your note doesn’t match your expectations.

Review theTranscriptto see if the information causing the issue is mentioned.
If the Transcript doesn’t reference the incorrect output, the issue may be related to yourtemplate structurerather than the Transcript itself.

Examine thetemplate structureto ensure it is accurate and aligned with your intended output.

2. Errors in the Transcript (e.g., Dosage or Measurement Mistake)

🔍Issue:You notice an error in the Transcript, such as an incorrect dosage or measurement.

Update the clinical note directly to correct the error.
Add aCommand for Consistencyto ensure the correction is applied across all related documents:

Bespecific,clearanddirectwhen providing AI instructions. Whilst Heidi is smart, the more clear the instructions, the better the output.
