I had the pleasure of seeing John Smith, age 67 for a HAC. During today's appointment, the patient reported: He reported experiencing occasional feedback noise from his left hearing aid and difficulty hearing in crowded environments. Actions: Otoscopy: Otoscopy unremarkable bilaterally. Cerumen management was completed in the right ear using irrigation with patient consent. Redux completed removing 15 microliters of moisture. Cleaned both hearing aids, including wax trap, receiver, dome, microphone filters, casing replacement. Subsequent listening checks were good. Datalogging shows 8 hours/day use. Due to patient's concerns of feedback noise and difficulty in crowded environments, the following adjustments, changes, and recommendations were made: The gain was reduced slightly in the left hearing aid to minimize feedback, and a noise reduction program was activated to assist in crowded settings. All patient questions answered satisfactorily. Recommendations: follow-up on 15 December 2024 for an annual hearing aid check or sooner if concerns arise. - Patient enjoys attending weekly community choir sessions.
