Heidi processes personal and health information in accordance with POPIA. Processing is purpose-limited in line with section 13 of POPIA, and undertaken solely to provide the service requested by the healthcare provider. Heidi acts as a data processor/operator, processing data only on documented instructions.
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption protocols. Access to data is restricted through role-based access controls and monitored on an ongoing basis. Data is stored and handled in accordance with POPIA’s security safeguard requirements. Formal data processing and confidentiality obligations are in place with customers and subprocessors.
Heidi is an assistive clinical documentation tool and does not provide diagnoses or clinical decision-making. All outputs are reviewed, edited and approved by the healthcare practitioner. Heidi’s approach aligns with the HPCSA Ethical Guidelines on the Use of Artificial Intelligence, including requirements for human oversight, transparency and professional accountability.
Heidi operates a mature Information Security Management System (ISMS) aligned with internationally recognized standards. AI systems are governed through structured risk management, human-in-the-loop controls and documented accountability.
