Heidi was founded on the firm belief that AI has the power to solve the problems facing healthcare systems across the world.

Our ambition has been clear from the start: double the world’s capacity for care without dehumanizing it. We believe the future of medicine belongs to clinicians who are liberated from administrative paralysis, supported by clinical intelligence that absorbs the exhausting operational machinery of modern healthcare.

We envision a world where every clinician practices alongside an AI Care Partner: a platform that safely assists them with their work and supports the return of hours of presence back to the doctor-patient relationship.

Today, we are announcing US$340 million in new funding to make that vision a reality.

This includes a $100 million Series C round led by Blackbird, with participation from other existing investors including Phoenix Court (the home of LocalGlobe, Latitude and Solar funds), Point72 Private Investments, and Headline; alongside a $240 million growth investment led by General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund. The new investment values Heidi at $900 million.

This funding reflects deep conviction in where clinical artificial intelligence is heading. The next chapter of our mission is AI with an ability to handle the clinical work that slows our health systems down.

Looking beyond documentation

Our scribe addressed an urgent pain point: by capturing clinical notes in real time, it gave clinicians back their evenings. But the rest of the clinical day remained weighed down by administrative inertia.

The reality is that currently, once the note is written, the work is still on the clinician’s shoulders. Pre-charting. Chasing diagnostics. Operational friction. You don’t accomplish a mission as ambitious as ours by compiling a list of tasks, then handing it back to a clinician to complete.

Heidi is uniquely placed to solve the problem because it’s already in the room with clinicians and their patients around the world. Heidi works from the full conversation, not the compressed version that makes it to the health record. The horizon ahead is about what happens when we apply that intelligence to the operational backlog that follows.

Our focus is simple: get the clerical work off the clinician's desk, while medical judgment remains entirely with the human practitioner.

Building on our organic success

Clinicians have spent decades dealing with systems that introduced friction under the guise of efficiency. Heidi grew because we focused on removing that friction through a relentless focus on clinical utility.

We also realized early on that generalized AI models would only get us so far, so we built task-specific medical foundation models designed for the uncompromising precision and safety requirements that medicine demands. That foundation turned Heidi into one of the most rapidly adopted platforms in healthcare:

  • Supporting 2.8 million patient visits every week across 190 countries and 110 languages.
  • So far, that’s over 175 million visits in total and 67 million clinical hours.
  • Scaling annual recurring revenue from $1 million to $50 million in two years.

Our unwavering commitment to being the benchmark for safe clinical AI has won us trust across public systems and major networks including NHS Midlands, Metro South Health, Health New Zealand, and Beth Israel Lahey Health. We’ll continue to partner closely with regulators as clinical AI takes shape, to ensure every product goes through the appropriate pathway.

Expanding the capacity for care

Our ambition was never confined to transcribing clinic visits. The broader mandate has always been getting an AI Care Partner beside every clinician in the world, returning their attention entirely to the person sitting across from them.

That continuity of purpose is why the same investors who backed an idea pitched by Dr Tom Kelly in hospital scrubs are doubling down at this scale today. Real transformation in healthcare only happens when clinical empathy meets rigorous engineering, creating tools that clinicians genuinely love on the ground and health systems can trust at scale.

Healthcare systems cannot continue to rely on the quiet endurance of exhausted practitioners. Expanding global capacity requires an environment where technology carries the operational weight, freeing clinicians to practice the human art of medicine.

We are building the intelligence that makes that capacity possible, and the next chapter starts now.

If you want to help shape what comes next, we are hiring across our teams.
