Heidi Health Brings Next-Generation Ambient AI to Primary Care Settings

Heidi Health is at the forefront of healthcare innovation with the rollout of advanced ambient AI technology. As part of a pilot funded by the Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN) under its AI-Enabled General Practice Initiative, the technology is being introduced across several GP clinics in the region to boost efficiency, enhance the quality of patient care, and support clinician wellbeing.
The pilot, a first for the region, equips clinicians in the initial group of participating clinics with ambient AI technology, delivering a range of key benefits. By automatically generating high-quality clinical notes, the technology reduces administrative workload, supports more focused and meaningful patient interactions, and plays a vital role in lowering clinician stress and burnout.
Melissa Pollard, HNECC PHN Executive Manager – Digital Health and Technology, highlighted the critical role of innovation in healthcare:
“Innovation in healthcare is about finding smarter solutions to the challenges of time, access, and equity. We’re partnering with providers to pilot AI scribe technology that reduces the administrative burden on clinicians, giving them more time to focus on their patients.”
Heidi Health’s ambient AI integrates effortlessly into clinical workflows, capturing patient consultations in real-time, accurately transcribing conversations, and intelligently summarising clinical insights. By minimising documentation time, clinicians can focus more on providing compassionate, human-centred care, directly improving both patient outcomes and clinician wellbeing.
Dr Thomas Kelly, CEO and Co-Founder of Heidi Health, commended HNECC PHN’s forward-thinking approach:
"We're proud to empower primary care providers with AI-driven tools that enhance their ability to provide compassionate, personalised care, fostering more meaningful patient interactions and reducing administrative burdens."
This rollout marks a significant milestone in demonstrating the effectiveness of ambient AI at scale.
