Welcome to Progress Notes, our monthly check-up on everything new in Heidi. July was all about context, giving you the full patient picture before every visit starts.

Keep every patient in one place

Now you’ll find Patients in the sidebar with patient history, medications, allergies, files and past sessions, so the full picture is ready before you start. Walk in feeling prepared.

At the end of each session, Heidi recommends updates to patient details, so records stay current with less manual upkeep.

Patients is now available to all users without an EHR integration. Learn more.

Start every session already caught up

Heidi can now use a patient's recent sessions as context for new notes. Link a patient and their most recent sessions come along automatically, so every note starts with the full picture. Turn it on or off any time in Settings → Data management → Automatically include past sessions.

Quality of life improvements

• Choose the font and formatting for exported notes and documents, so that it matches your presentation and formatting needs, removing the need to re-edit.

Bug fixes

• You can now pin and favorite templates from across your team, so the shared templates sit at the top of your library.

Desktop

Download the latest version of the desktop.

Feature updates:

• Heidi now captures telehealth call audio at the system level instead of from a single device, so calls through apps like Aircall come through reliably, even with a headset.
• Clear safety callouts on high-risk clinical content, real OCR quality shown on citations and Library cards, and a "not for autonomous decision-making" disclaimer.
• Snippets: expand dot-phrases inline while dictating into any field (e.g. say "ros" to insert "Review of systems:"), managed from a new Snippets tab.
• Verbal commands: control punctuation and formatting with your voice (English), with the full command set in an in-app reference.
• Dictation History: view your full dictation entries in a new History tab.
• Tone tab: choose a per-app output tone for desktop dictation.

Bug fixes:

• Microphone errors now tell you exactly what's wrong, whether a device is in use or permission was denied, in a clear pop-up instead of failing silently.
• Bulk sync now recognizes recordings you've already synced, so it won't waste time re-downloading and reprocessing them.
• Evidence side-by-side comparisons now stay live even if you select a candidate mid-stream, and the overlay no longer flashes when it shouldn't.
• Dictation now matches your operating system's language by default, even before you sign in.

Mobile iOS and Android

iOS new features:

• Ask Evidence questions mid-session: linked to the patient you're seeing, and get your answers instantly. Long chats now stream and scroll smoothly, the session picker shows your live recording with its timer, and shared chat links open no matter where you are.
• Add images to Evidence and context: snap a photo or add an image directly, whether you're in Evidence or building context for a session.
• Resume with Heidi Remote: pick up an existing session right from your Remote, with auto power-off, refreshed battery and charging status, and a badge showing which sessions were captured by Remote.

Fixes:

• Resuming a session no longer loses your audio without telling you.
• Your chosen session language now saves before you start recording, so it always sticks.
• You can now tap PDF download links right from your phone.
• File-upload sessions no longer re-upload and regenerate their note every time you relaunch the app.

Android new features:

• Session Merge now works properly offline, so merged sessions behave as expected even without a connection.
• A quick language confirmation step now checks your transcription language before each session starts.

Fixes:

• PDF note generation now works when you add a PDF note type to a completed session.
• PDF templates are now available right after note generation when you add a PDF document.
• Copy/paste now grabs your edited note, not the original, so what you paste is what you actually wrote.

Remote

New features and fixes:

Recordings now upload in smaller chunks over Wi-Fi, so syncing is faster and more reliable.

If your Remote ever freezes, a hardware watchdog steps in, recovers it, and resumes recording automatically. The recording light is dimmer and less distracting, and battery readings respond faster while it's charging.

Recordings sync and transcribe more reliably.

Your Remote no longer freezes on weak Bluetooth, and the app won't let you accidentally delete a session you're still recording.

1. Connect your Remote to the mobile or desktop app over Bluetooth.
2. When the update prompt appears, follow it to install. To update later instead, open your Remote settings in the app and follow the prompts when you're ready.

Widget updates

Features and fixes:

• Past-session context selection now re-seeds correctly per session
• Auto Mode now reliably generates the right template in the widget, and you can pick your template before you even start transcribing.
