Ortho Clinic Letter (Knee)

Thank you for choosing to come to see me about your knee problem. This letter summarises our recent discussion regarding your right knee pain. Your Concerns: You have been experiencing sharp pain in your right knee, especially when climbing stairs or engaging in physical activities. You have tried over-the-counter pain medications and physical therapy with limited relief. What We Found: Upon examination, there is tenderness around the patella and reduced range of motion. Previous MRI scans indicate mild osteoarthritis and a small meniscal tear. Health Background: You have a history of hypertension and are allergic to penicillin. No other joint pain reported. The Plan: The suspected condition is a combination of osteoarthritis and a meniscal tear. We propose a management plan that includes a corticosteroid injection, followed by a tailored physical therapy program. Surgical intervention may be considered if conservative measures fail. Next Steps: You are scheduled for a corticosteroid injection next week. Please avoid high-impact activities and follow the prescribed physical therapy regimen.
