The purpose of the bronchoscopy was to obtain tissue samples for diagnosis and staging. The risks, benefits, pros, cons, side effects, and alternatives of the procedure were reviewed with the patient, and the patient agreed to proceed. After induction of general anesthesia, a flexible bronchoscope was advanced through the endotracheal tube. The right upper lobe was visualized.
