Optilume OP NOTE (bulbar urethral stricture)

Patient Positioning: The patient was placed in the lithotomy position. Standard surgical prep and draping were performed in the usual sterile manner. Anesthesia: Spinal anesthesia Procedure: A flexible cystoscope was introduced into the urethra to assess the stricture location, length, and degree of obstruction. A guidewire was carefully passed beyond the stricture into the bladder under direct visualization. A drug-coated balloon catheter was then advanced over the guidewire to the stricture site. The balloon was inflated to the appropriate pressure for approximately 5 minutes, ensuring adequate dilation. Once dilation was complete, the balloon was deflated and removed. A final cystoscopic evaluation confirmed improved urethral patency and the absence of significant complications. A Foley catheter was placed for postoperative urinary drainage as per standard protocol.
