Heidi Launches in Hong Kong

Heidi, the fast-growing healthcare AI company, announced its launch in Hong Kong, following its recent US$65 million Series B funding round led by Point72 Private Investments.
The expansion demonstrates Heidi’s commitment to the long-term development of its Hong Kong operations. It will invest in R&D and in building local teams across sales, implementation, and fostering clinical partnerships that drive sustainable growth in the healthcare sector. The new office will support customer growth, market enablement, and collaboration with healthcare providers.
As part of its entry, Heidi also announced a research partnership with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) to advance the study of AI-powered clinical documentation. The collaboration will generate evidence to guide safe, scalable AI use in healthcare; enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and clinician wellbeing while positioning Hong Kong as a regional leader in AI-driven medical innovation.

“Hong Kong represents a pivotal step in Heidi’s global journey,” said Dr. Thomas Kelly, CEO and co-founder of Heidi. “The city’s advanced healthcare and tech ecosystem, strong academic base, and openness to AI innovation make it an ideal launchpad for our next phase of growth. By investing locally and working with partners like HKUST, we’re building the foundation for more efficient, accessible healthcare across Asia.”
Heidi’s expansion comes at a critical time for Hong Kong’s healthcare system, which faces low clinician-to-population ratios (2.16 doctors per 1 000 persons), in developed markets. By automating clinical documentation, Heidi’s AI platform helps increase the effective capacity of clinicians, allowing them to dedicate more time to patient care. The platform, which transcribes doctor-patient conversations into structured clinical notes, has already supported nearly 20,000 consultations in Hong Kong.
“Our technology is built to reduce administrative workloads and restore time back to clinicians, one of the scarcest resources in healthcare,” Kelly added. “If we can boost clinical capacity in Hong Kong, the ripple effects for care quality and system efficiency will be profound.”
Primary care, hospitals, and healthcare systems are actively exploring AI capabilities with Heidi, which is already supporting customers such as PHYX Physio clinic and Hong Kong Foot Clinic to automate clinical documentation.

“Heidi’s entry highlights the deepening collaboration between Australia and Hong Kong in technology and healthcare,” said Gareth Williams, Australian Consulate-General to Hong Kong. “This partnership is a strong example of how we can work together for the greater good. By harnessing innovation, we are addressing shared societal challenges such as improving patient care, supporting clinicians, and strengthening healthcare systems for the future.”
Heidi’s Hong Kong launch builds on its rapid global momentum. The company’s AI tools currently process more than 2 million patient consultations weekly, operating in 110 languages across 116 countries. The latest funding round brings Heidi’s total capital raised to US$96.6 million, supported by investors including Point72 Private Investments, Blackbird Ventures, Headline, and LocalGlobe.
