Summary

The company secures $340M USD to scale agents across health systems globally, including deeper commitment to Canadian clinicians and growing its footprint in Toronto

TORONTO, September 22, 2026 – Heidi, the AI Care Partner supporting 2.8 million clinical consultations each week globally, today announced its official entry into Canada, marked by the opening of its North American headquarters in Toronto and an investment of $25.4 million CAD.

Heidi also announced it has closed a $100 million USD Series C funding round led by Blackbird, with participation from other existing investors including Phoenix Court (the home of LocalGlobe, Latitude and Solar funds), Point72 Private Investments, and Headline. The round values Heidi at $900 million USD. Alongside the equity round, Heidi has also secured a $240 million USD growth investment led by General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund, providing large scale GTM investment capacity to support Heidi's rapid growth and scale, bringing the total new funding to $340 million USD.

Two years since launch, Heidi has supported more than 175 million patient visits (up from 73 million at Series B), and over 67 million clinical hours, more than tripling since September 2025. The platform is being used in 190 countries and 110 languages. Annual recurring revenue grew from $1 million USD to $50 million USD (April 2026) in just two years.

Heidi’s Commitment to Canada

Canada is the company's second largest market globally after Australia, and its fastest growing user base. With strategic advisory support from Invest Ontario, Heidi will lead its North American expansion from Toronto, carrying out R&D and managing partnerships across the region. The company has already hired 17 people and is expected to create an additional 30 high-skilled jobs across engineering, clinical and commercial roles.

"This round lets us build out in Canada properly, through more engineers and staff in the Toronto office, deeper local research, and real work alongside hospitals and primary care teams," said Thomas Kelly, Co-Founder and CEO of Heidi. "For us, Ontario was a natural choice for Heidi's North American headquarters. Our mission is to double the world's capacity for care, and we intend to continue furthering this mission with Canada."

Heidi’s Impact in Canada

Originally built for the realities of the Australian healthcare system, Heidi has grown rapidly in Canada due to the similar pressures faced by the Canadian system, including significant rural populations, difficult access to GPs and specialists, and a high administrative workload.

The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) estimates Canadian doctors spend 19.8 million hours a year on unnecessary admin tasks, which 82% of whom say get in the way of caring for their patients. Administrative work is also a key driver of clinician burnout. Since 2024 Heidi has helped clinicians document 39.4 million patient consultations, returning an estimated 11.7 million hours to clinicians and freeing up more time for patient care.

Heidi has also appointed Dr. Sameer Shaikh as Clinical Director for Canada. Dr. Shaikh is a Royal College clinician educator who has spent much of his career teaching clinicians how to responsibly use AI in practice. He will lead Heidi’s clinical strategy in Canada, working with hospitals, primary care teams and clinician groups on safe adoption and clinical AI literacy.

"Canada is where a big part of our North American story started," said Jessie Young, President of North America at Heidi. "The team we have built in Toronto works inside the realities of Canadian clinical practice, and that shapes what we build. Dr. Shaikh marks a valuable addition to the team, bringing years of clinical leadership and firsthand experience in AI-supported healthcare."

A commitment to clinical safety and trust has been central to Heidi's growth in the Canadian market. Heidi is collaborating with the Vector Institute on clinical AI research and working with the Nurse Practitioners' Association of Ontario, OntarioMD and Supply Ontario. The platform is in use at Halton Healthcare, North York General and multiple Ontario Health Teams, supporting the goals set out in Ontario's Primary Care Action Plan on access, continuity of care and pressure on the clinical workforce.
