Today, Heidi Co-Founder and CEO Tom Kelly shared the following message to everyone at Heidi.

Hello team,

Thank you for joining today’s All Hands. I want to put what we shared in writing, including what happens next and where to find support.

The changes we’re making

Today, we announced changes to Heidi’s structure and a reduction in the size of our team by about 18% globally.

We can now confirm that all invitations have been sent. If you have not received an invitation, your role is not affected by these changes. I know the uncertainty and waiting today would have been incredibly difficult.

To those who are affected, I’m truly sorry for the impact this will have on you, your families and your teammates. You’ve put your talent, time and belief into Heidi, and as a leadership team, we take responsibility for the decisions that have brought us here.

Why we’re making these changes

Heidi is growing rapidly because clinicians around the world need and want our technology. We are investing in expanding our products, markets and team, and now support three million patient interactions every week. Our team has helped make that possible.

After reviewing our priorities in detail, we’ve made difficult choices about where to focus our team and investment to deliver the greatest impact for customers going forward. That means bringing more customer support into product, bringing R&D together in one roadmap and giving our new product businesses clearer ownership and dedicated teams.

Unfortunately, it also means some roles will be impacted. These changes do not reflect the contribution, dedication or value of our departing Heidi's.

For today

There is no expectation that today will be business as usual. Please give yourself and others time to process the news. If you would prefer to return home, you are welcome to do so.

You may not know immediately how your team is changing. Please respect colleagues’ privacy and give them space to share their news in their own way.

Those affected will speak individually with their leader and local People team about what this means for them, including the process, next steps, and support available.

We are providing severance and benefits packages that vary by country but exceed statutory requirements in every location. We will also use our networks to help people find their next role wherever we can. If I can personally help with a reference or introduction, I will.

To colleagues whose roles are affected

Thank you for everything you have put into Heidi. Your work has shaped this company, helped clinicians spend more time caring for patients and made a lasting difference to people around the world. I know that words cannot make today easier, but hope you each leave Heidi knowing how much your contribution has meant.

What comes next

Next week, we will walk through the structure, priorities and path forward, with time for questions. Function and regional All Hands will follow to help teams understand what this means for their work.

Today, our focus is on the people affected and following through on the support we have promised.

This is a hard day for Heidi. Please look after yourselves and each other.

Tom
