How to Clear Your Browser Cache

Clearing your cache across different browser providers, covered in this is Firefox, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Edge.

Sometimes refreshing your browser cache can fix problems with pages not updating or loading correctly. Below are quick steps for the most common browsers.


Firefox

  1. Open Firefox.

  2. Click the menu button (≡) in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Go to Privacy & Security.

  5. Scroll to Cookies and Site Data.

  6. Click Clear Data….

  7. Tick Cached Web Content (leave Cookies unticked if you want to stay signed in).

  8. Press Clear.

Shortcut: Press Ctrl + Shift + Del → choose Cached Web ContentClear Now.


Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.

  2. Click the menu button (⋮) in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Go to Privacy and securityClear browsing data.

  5. Choose a time range (Last hour, 24 hours, 7 days, 4 weeks, or All time).

  6. Tick Cached images and files.

  7. Click Clear data.

Shortcut: Press Ctrl + Shift + Del → select Cached images and filesClear data.


Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge.

  2. Click the menu button (⋮) in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Go to Privacy, search, and services.

  5. Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.

  6. Select a time range.

  7. Tick Cached images and files.

  8. Press Clear now.

Shortcut: Press Ctrl + Shift + Del → tick Cached images and filesClear now.
